About
Mike Hillwig is a database administrator living and working in the Boston area. He currently works for a high tech company that makes IP telephony technology devices.
Mike represents the little guys in database environments. His databases are measured in gigabytes and not terabytes. We don’t use high-end storage. SATA drives are high end for us. In his current environment, he manages 14 database servers with just over 100 production databases.
Mike isn’t a rockstar DBA. He’s good but not amazing. He does have a lot of experience managing Windows servers and has done his share of database development. However, Mike is a Crystal Reports Jedi Master. He brings close to fifteen years of IT experience and ten years of database experience to the table. Mike has worked with SQL Server, MySQL, and Lotus Notes/Domino. He’s also a frequent contributor to SQLServerpedia.com.
Contrary to the title of his blog, Mike is a quite jovial person. He does get cranky with developers who don’t understand the concept of referential integrity.
Outside of work, Mike is an avid cook and is owned by a Pug named Reggie.
